Note: Check with your local Fire Marshal's Office to verify that these can be used in your juristiction. The Fire Hydrant Lock deters access to a fire hydrant's operating nut to prevent unauthorized water usage and unwanted access to the potable water system. The fire hydrant lock's outer shell comes with a 2 inch wide reflective band that makes it easier to locate the fire hydrant at night.
Red ductile iron lug extension secures to existing 1 1/2 inch pentagon via provided allen screws. Tubular steel shell with reflective tape slips over to allow swiveling stainless steel padlock hasp to protrude through. Cover shell and padlock hasp both rotate freely to help prevent tampering. Attach padlock of your choice to hasp to prevent shell removal and access to the 1 1/2 inch pentagon nut extension.
Once padlock is unlocked and removed along with the cover shell hydrant may be opened with standard hydrant wrench. No need to remove pentagon nut extension or any of the allen screws to open hydrant!
