Description

The 3110 model with 2½" NH threads (7.5 TPI x 3.068 OD) is the most widely used configuration — however, thread patterns and sizes vary by jurisdiction, so always verify the correct specifications with your local fire department before ordering.

Knox FDC Locks protect fire department connections (FDCs), keeping pipes clean of debris to ensure the delivery of high-pressure water flow to fire sprinkler systems. The Knox FDC Lock is available in 2 1/2" configuration and is operated with a Knox FDC wrench controlled by the Fire Department.

FAQs

What problem do Knox FDC Locking Caps solve?

When FDCs are left unsecured, they are vulnerable to damage, debris, and vandalism, which can constrict the flow of water to fire protection systems such as fire sprinklers and standpipes. TRL Systems Knox Locking Caps prevent all of that.

What materials are Knox FDC Locks made from?

Knox FDC Locks feature stainless steel construction to withstand all weather conditions, making them durable enough for exterior building installations year-round.

What are the practical benefits of installing Knox FDC Locks on a building?

Knox FDC Locks eliminate costly services to back-flush pipes due to debris, ensure ready and reliable connections to fire sprinkler systems, protect the FDC swivel from theft, damage, and vandalism, and protect check valves from freezing in cold climate areas.

Who controls access to the Knox FDC Locks?

Knox FDC Locks are secure locking FDC caps that can only be accessed by Fire Department personnel using a Knox Key wrench — keeping unauthorized users out entirely.

Can any building install a Knox FDC Locking Cap?

Knox FDC Locking Caps can be ordered by anyone, but keys are only obtained by sprinkler contractors and authorized fire department personnel. That said, a building must have an existing Fire Department Connection (FDC) in order for a locking cap to apply — not all buildings have one.

What should a building owner do after receiving Knox FDC Locking Caps?

After receiving your Knox locking FDC caps, call your responding Fire Department to schedule an inspection and help install and lock the caps. Installation must be coordinated with the fire department to ensure the Key wrench is compatible and properly registered.
