Description

All of our domestic hoses are supplied by the largest manufacturer of fire hose in the United States. They have specialized in forestry hoses for the past 35 years. Every assembled hose is pressure tested by the manufacturer to ensure safety and reliability. Hoses are produced to meet or exceed NFPA standards used by United States Forestry Service (USFS).

This hose is a lightweight forestry fire "mop-up" hose and is NOT intended to be a substitute for home garden hoses. It is thin walled and will kink at low pressure. Please see SKU 58G150GBL for a kink-free lightweight home garden hose. This hose is sometimes referred to as pencil line or toy hose in the wildland fire industry.

  • Jacket constructed with filament polyester yarn in the warp, with filler yarns consisting of high strength, low elongation, filament polyester for reduced weight and increase flexibility. The polyurethane lining consists of a single-ply extruded tube of synthetic high tensile TPU compounded that resist ozone. Features a smooth finish for better flow characteristics.
  • The hose is coupled with Brass GHT threaded couplings complete with gasket and fitted with strain reliefs inside the ferrules to protect the hose.
  • The service test pressure of the hose is 300 PSI / 2068 kPa. The proof test pressure shall be 600 PSI / 4137 kPa and the burst test pressure of a 3 foot / 1 meter sample shall be at least 900 PSI / 6205 kPa.
  • This hose meets or exceeds all performance requirements of Federal specification NSN: 4210‑01‑167‑1061.

Applications

  • Forest firefighting
  • Brush firefighting
  • Grass firefighting
  • Wildland firefighting
  • Light Industrial Use

Test Ratings (Water Only With Expansion Ring Couplings)

  • Service Pressure (A 3-minute hydrostatic test conducted by users on in-service hose to determine suitability for continued service)
  • Proof Test Pressure (A pressure equal to a least two times the service test pressure)
  • PSI Burst Test Pressure

Help Me Connect

  • The female side of a garden hose will only connect to a male garden hose connection
  • The male side of a garden hose will only connect to a female garden hose connection

NH / NST: The most common thread type in use by fire departments today is NST or National Standard Thread. NST also goes by the initials NH or National Hose. It can even be referred to as NHT or National Hose Thread but NST or NH is more common these days. NH = NST.

  • The female side of a NH / NST coupling will only connect to a male NH / NST connection
  • The male side of a NH / NST coupling will only connect to a female NH / NST connection

NPSH: National Pipe Straight Hose (NPSH) or Iron Pipe Thread (IPT) has the same threads per inch (TPI) as National Pipe Tapered (NPT) but the thread does not taper. NPSH is a straight thread and seals by a gasket in the female coupling which allows for a swivel, just like NH / NST, which make both ideal for hose couplings.

  • The female side of a NPSH coupling will only connect to a male NPT pipe or a male NPSH connection
  • The male side of a NPSH coupling will only connect to a female NPSH connection
  • It will NOT thread into a female NPT pipe. For example, a male NPSH coupling will NOT thread into a female metal or pvc pipe.

NPT: National Pipe Tapered is common in plumbing and some industrial uses. Sometimes referred to as pipe thread because PVC pipe and schedule 40 pipe are typically threaded in NPT. As its name implies this is a tapered thread so that the outside diameter of the male (ODM) gets smaller towards the end of the fitting and the inside diameter of the female narrows with depth. As the two fittings are threaded together the opposite tapers force thread friction and makes the seal without the use of a gasket.
