Description

High nitrile content for maximum flexibility and long-term resistance to ozone sets the Key Fire Pro Flow LDH hose apart from other rubber covered hoses.

All Key Fire hoses are service tested before shipment!

Hose Construction

Hose shall be made from 100 percent high tenacity synthetic polyester yarn, circularly woven and completely protected by a through-the-weave extruded PVC/Nitrile rubber, forming a single homogeneous construction without the use of glues or adhesives of any type. Pro-Flow features a thin rib construction to aid abrasion resistance. Pro-Flow exceeds all requirements of NFPA 1961 for supply hose. Pro-Flow shall carry a 10 year written warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Abrasion Resistance

Hose shall withstand 10,000 cycles on the Taber Abrasion Machine.

Cold Resistance

Hose shall have a capability of use down to -35° F. Hose shall have no apparent damage to cover, reinforcement or lining when subjected to the following cold bending test: a 50 foot length of dry hose is to be firmly coiled and placed in a cold box at -35° F for a duration of 24 hours. Immediately after removal of the hose from the box, hose should be uncoiled and laid out by one operator. Following this procedure, the hose shall not leak nor show any damage to the reinforcement when subjected to the hydrostatic acceptance test stated above.

Heat Resistance

The hose, when subjected to a static pressure of 100 PSI, shall be capable of withstanding a surface temperature of 1200° F for a minimum of one minute without rupture or damage to the synthetic reinforcement.

Applications

  • Municipal Fire Departments
  • Large Diameter Hydrant to Pumper
  • Pumper to Pumper Relay
  • LDH supply lines

Test Ratings (Water Only With Storz Couplings)

  • Service Pressure (A 3-minute hydrostatic test conducted by users on in-service hose to determine suitability for continued service)
  • Proof Test Pressure (A pressure equal to a least two times the service test pressure)
  • PSI Burst Test Pressure

Help Me Connect

Storz is a type of hose coupling that connects using interlocking hooks and flanges. Amongst other uses, it has been widely employed on fire hoses in firefighting applications.

Most Storz connectors are usually made of aluminum. It is sometimes referred to as a sexless coupling, because rather than having a male and a female end connected by screw threads, either identical end can be joined to any other end of the same diameter. This is also called hermaphroditic or two-way connection. To couple a Storz connection, the two opposing couplings are pressed together such that the hooks of each one are inserted into the slots in the flange of the other. Then they are rotated in opposite directions until they are tight, or latches engage. This creates a water-tight connection between the internal packing gaskets. To uncouple them, the latches are released and the connectors are turned in the opposite directions from coupling, and then separated when the hooks and slots are aligned. Special Storz wrenches are designed for assisting with use of Storz connectors.

The main benefit to using Storz couplings is speed of hose connection, as a hose can be locked with a quarter-turn. By comparison, locking hoses using threaded couplings often takes several turns. Because of this, Storz couplings are widely viewed as a safer alternative to using threaded couplings. A secondary benefit over threaded couplings is that the connecting faces and hooks are less prone to damage if the coupling is dropped on to, or dragged over, a hard surface.

Warranty Information

Limited 10-Year Warranty

We will replace any fire hose with manufacturer defects in material and workmanship. All warranty claims must be returned to us for inspection before we determine a solution.

Our warranty does not cover gaskets, shipping cost, cosmetic damages, normal wear-and-tear, improper use or chemical damage.

Fire hoses purchased for use at Fire Training Facilities will have a 90-day Manufacturer Defect warranty only.

Upon receipt of the returned goods, hoses will be subject to inspection and testing.

Should it be determined that the hose is covered by warranty, it will be repaired or replaced.
